And yet when I read it in this book, I was so upset I had to stop reading for a while. Additionally, the devotion people had towards her father, the victim- blaming that occurred and her guilt were all common experiences for people who have experienced CSA.

After spending the winter recovering, Deerskin feels compelled to return to Ossin’s city, following an urgent call. The plot dragged in the middle but it has a pretty typical fairy tale arc view spoiler [Princess runs away, pretends to be a commoner, she meets a prince.

But for all that, it really is a beautiful story. Robin McKinley’s writing is much less fluid and well-thought than in the other books I’ve read, but the story is a great adaptation dwerskin the super ronin fairytale and she handles the sexual abuse and recovery of the main character pretty well, although her SUPER AMNESIA is a little implausible but whatever. My spidey-sense roibn telling me all along that something was not right, but I clung to the naive hope that I was wrong about where it was going.

Robon, the romance that gives Lissra a new life was paced slightly abruptly. I knew it was about a woman who was raped by her father when I bought it.

I love stories based on fairytales, particularly less well known ones, and I like McKinley’s writing in general, and her writing is a joy to read normally. Struggling to overcome her trauma, she flees into the mountains from her palace and her city, accompanied only by the loyal Ash.
