Getting along smoothly in life requires some ability to see things the way the other person does. The characteristics of logical, rational, and analytical processing are therefore a low preference and may even be avoided.

Work that is considered a “Turn On” would include: A tertiary preference in the D quadrant would be demonstrated by a lack of preference for holistic, creative, synthesizing and integrative modes of thinking. Herrmann also coined the concept Whole Brain Thinking as a description of flexibility in using thinking styles that one may cultivate in individuals or in organizations allowing the situational use of all four styles of thinking. As a result, the Upper Right D characteristics would be relatively invisible and the three primaries would impact the person’s mental preferences with a fair amount of balance.

The occupations typical of this profile are technically, mathematically, or financially based, with some working in scientific, legal, and middle management professions. This profile is a double dominant profile with the two primaries falling in the Lower Left B and Lower Right C quadrants. Ideally, they are able to integrate and balance out these two different perspectives hbd they make decisions; however, under less ideal circumstances there may be a tendency to vacillate or, at worst, feel paralyzed between both.

The most natural problem solving strategies would include those strategies the individual feels best fit the situation. The fact that under stress I don’t change is interesting as my most of my colleagues varied a lot, with quite a few reverting to a less dominant quadrant as their default setting.
